As in UTMB, we the organizers of MIUT, decided to offer a 25 cl cup to all runners, with which, they will be served with all the drinks offered during the course of MIUT 08. For this runners must take the cup with them, otherwise there will be no other way to drink. With this we are all contributing for less trash production.

Due to better infraestrutures conditions some controls were changed from their initial location.

Runners taking part on MIUT 08, must proceed with the check-in on the 19.September from 09h00 to 13h00 and from 15h00 to 20h00. Soon it will be published a map with the exact place for the Check-In...

For the MIUT 08 it will be used the SportIdent System, which permits to control all the runners passing through the controls (CP's) and finish line. At the end of the course, each finisher will get a print with their race total time and also the splits, which are, the intermediate times between each control (CP)...

During the course it will be possible to find drinks in all controls and energy food in 4 controls for UT 100 km and 2 in the Trail 53 km. Under goes a description what runners can expect to find in control points of each competition:

Payments coming after 02 of September, we (MIUT 08 organizers) will not garantee the same privileges as the runners who have entered and paid until this date.

Due to a small change in the course at the beggining of UT 100 and another change in Pico do Areeiro (km 65), maps, gps tracks, and google earth tracks were updated.

For those who don't want to run the "Madeira Island Ultra Trail" but in some way would like to join the event, we are know accepting volunteers for the different tasks that compose the organization of this big race.

Due to the microclimates that can be found in Madeira, where the weather can be completely different on different parts of the Island,  it will be possible for runners taking part in Ultra Trail - 100 km to send a bag to Pico do Areeiro (km 65) and not Encumeada (km 47 as it was announced), this change will better for runners after the hard stage from Encumeada do Pico do Areeiro.
This bag will be destributed by the organization on the check-in day.

An important information was escaping for MIUT 08, that is, people who suffers from vertigo can have some problems during the course, because some parts may interfere with these people. Most of these are protected with fences, but there are some without protection, so even for those who do not suffer from vertigo must be quite careful when coming to this places.

MIUT 08 is one of the qualifying courses for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) 2009. The Finishers of MIUT 08 in Ultra Trail - 100 km will collect 3 points.

Instead of a medical certificate it will be used a Term of Responsability sign  by runners when arriving to the event centre.

"Term of Responsability

To participate in the event, runners will necessary sign a term of responsibility, in which the athlete sais to be in physical and mental conditions to participate in this event of extreme hardship, and will assume all the responsability concerned to this matter."

The overall winner in the women class (Marta Prat Llorens) and the lottery winner (Gilberto Molina) in Transgrancanaria 2008 are already enrolled in MIUT 08.

Also the overall winners in women and men classes (Eugenia Afonso and Jesus Mendez), and the lottery winner (Diego Beltrán) in Cruza Tenerife 2008 are enrolled.
