In this edition, the UT 100 race will take place between the municipalities of Machico and Porto Moniz, providing the total crossing of the island of Madeira in the southeast-northwest direction, an innovation that will surely be appreciated by the participants. With about 102 km, and 6000mt positive climb, highly challenging, starts at sea level toward the highest peaks of the island, crossing the best trails on the island, including the massive central Areeiro - Ruivo (1861 mts) - Encumeada. The last half of the course, a constant "up and down" on the north coast, show strength in all the beauty Laurissilva* forest, one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal, before getting the finish line, at sea level, in the picturesque town of Porto Moniz.
The main race of MIUT, created especially for lovers of the mountain, with proven experience and in very good physical and mental condition. *Physical difficult is very high. With several victualling along the route.
* The Madeira Laurissilva ascended to the quality of World Natural Heritage by UNESCO in December 1999 and is also one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal, the winner in the category 'Forests and hills'.
